Sanity Savers: Birthday Gift Ideas – 9 Year Old Girl

My adorable daughter Adeline is turning nine! This is her hand-picked wishlist of birthday items for a 9 year old girl. We had fun working on this post together; read in her own words why each item would make a good pick!

Happy Birthday cute girl!
Crafty Ideas

First is a round up of 3 Amazon finds that will allow her to create for days to come! These are the types of gifts that retain their value for a long time.

🌟 GirlZone Ice Cream Shop Play Sand for Kids

Play sand has been the toy of choice around here for several days now! The kids love how it feels and the myriad of things they can create. The 6 sand tools provided in this kit would be a good fit for some of the ways they love to play!

A: I feel like it would be fun because I already have a bunch of kinetic sand–me and my sister share–and it would be really fun to have some more. It can actually make desserts–it has dessert cups–we really like playing a baking game so I feel like that would be really fun.

🌟 Caliart Deluxe Wooden Art Set

Art supplies are one of those items where a fresh set can feel so good. What I’m gathering from my daughter’s opinions on it too is that she’s ready to have a complete set that is hers alone instead of shared by all the kids together!

A: Why I chose the art set is because I really like doing art, and I just need more art supplies so that I don’t have to worry about losing them. I won’t have to worry about my older and younger siblings taking them.

🌟 Cosmic Shimmer Unicorn Slime Kit

This sparkly slime kit has all of the things you’d hope for to create lots of happy varieties–mix ins, a few scents, glitter, containers, etc. We once bought a kit like this and then sold the kids’ slime creations to neighbors for stocking stuffers!

A: The slime kit is cuz I really like slime. My sister’s the only one in our family that has slime but it’s messed up–it doesn’t stretch anymore…so I really want some slime. 🙂
What kid doesn’t love slime?
L.O.L Dolls

These dolls have been a favorite of my girls for years! With their fun extras and adorable styles, they remain a strong competitor among play dolls! The cute dolls of varying ages and hobbies are keeping kids’ interests alive!

A favorite aspect of L.O.L dolls has long been the unboxing of several surprises/accessories. These L.O.L. Surprise! Dolls are no exception! Many a 9 year old girl is sure to be delighted with everything they get to unwrap.

L.O.L. Dolls

🌟 L.O.L. Surprise! Tweens Series 3 Chloe Pepper Fashion Doll

A: I like this L.O.L. doll because I don’t have a teenager, and I want one because I have kids, babies, and grown ups, but I want to have an older sister–an actual older sister.

🌟 L.O.L Surprise! All Star Sports Moves – Cheer

A: Why I chose a cheerleader is because I already have a football player boy so I feel like they would go together finally–because he would be playing football while she’s cheering.
Squishy Stuffies

Stuffed animals have long been a favorite of kids of all ages — even teens! This especially squeezable variety is well-loved and coveted by many. I already have one Squishmallow for my daughter, but she’s still asking for them! As you can tell from the list below, she thinks the Axolotls are adorable!

🌟 Squishmallows Original 16-Inch Mipsy Green Axolotl

My daughter picked this one out first of all. Once I was talking to a family member from a generation older than me and they didn’t know what an axolotl was. Isn’t it crazy how axolotls went from being a largely unknown animal to now being showcased everywhere?

A: So why I want the green and blue axolotls is because axolotls are one of my favorite species, and I feel like it would just be fun to snuggle with.

🌟 Squishmallows 12-Inch Daxxon Purple Alien

A: Annnd, why I like the little alien thingy *giggle*: it’s so cute because of it’s little hat and then it’s little thingy’s poking out. It would be really fun to squish and play with.

🌟 Squishmallows Original 12-Inch Reginald Corgi

A: And last but not least the doggie. I feel like it would be really fun to just have in your bed because I’ve always wanted a pet, so, it’s gonna be like my dream animal.
We bought a giant squishy from Costco!

That’s a Wrap

That about wraps up this birthday ideas list! What “must-have” items would you be sure to add? Which gifts mentioned are you sure the 9-year old girl you’re shopping for would love?

Happy Birthday! 🎂

  1. I loved your suggestions for birthday gifts for 9-year-old girls! The variety you’ve included, from DIY kits to books and games, caters to different interests and encourages creativity. Have you noticed any particular gifts from your list being a hit with kids in that age range? Personal experiences can sometimes offer great insights into what resonates most with children.

I particularly appreciate the emphasis on non-material gifts like experiences or outings. Creating memories can often be more impactful than a tangible present. Have you ever gifted an experience instead of a physical item? I’ve found that outings or activities tend to leave a lasting impression and offer a special bonding opportunity. Thanks for sharing these sanity-saving gift ideas!

    • Hi Pasindu! Great thoughts! I remember when I was around 11 years old, I really badly wanted to go horseback riding. My mom wrote me this cute little card on construction paper with horses pictures cut out of magazines. The card said that I would get to go!! I was ecstatic! That gift does stand out more than almost anything else I received as a child.

I appreciate the nudge toward experiences as gifts, next time we create an idea list together we’ll consider those as well. Those really are the best of all!
